Nancy Pelosi led Congress announces that they will
not pass a budget this year
Chatham,
VA - Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in Washington announced yesterday that
due to the soaring national debt they created, they will not pass a
budget for FY 2011(see here). This comes on the heels of
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announcing that tax cuts that benefit the
middle class should not be "totally sacrosanct."
Republican Congressional Candidate in Virginia's Fifth District,
Robert Hurt,
released the
following statement:
"Passing
a budget is one of the fundamental responsibilities that our elected
officials
have and it's disappointing that Nancy Pelosi, Tom Perriello and the
Democratic
controlled Congress have failed American taxpayers.
This new development
comes as no surprise to many Virginians who have watched our taxes rise,
ours
deficit soar, and our jobs disappear. Families and businesses across
Virginia's
Fifth District are tired of a government that spends money it doesn't
have and
borrows money that it can't pay back. Virginians know the only people
who will
be responsible for the spending and debt taking place in Washington will
be our
children and our grandchildren."
In my nine years in the Virginia
General Assembly, I've fought for a balanced
budget every single year. It's not easy and it requires real leadership
on
major issues that affect every Virginian, but we balance our budget
every year
because its the law, its right for our Commonwealth and we owe it to the
taxpayers. As central
and Southside Virginia's next Congressman, I pledge to the people I seek
to
represent that I'll take those principles to Washington and stand up to
Nancy
Pelosi's tax and spend policies. I'll fight to balance our budgets every
year." |
