Not even two full years have passed, and we already know Rep. Tom Perriello is out of touch with the citizens of the 5th District.

By supporting liberal, unpopular causes like cap and trade, government-controlled health care and allowing federal spending to create unpayable debts, we now realize Rep. Perriello's views are more in line with those of Nancy Pelosi and her San Francisco district than here in Central Virginia. On June 8, we have the opportunity to take the first step to unseat Rep. Perriello by going to the polls and supporting Sen. Robert Hurt.

Sen. Hurt will fight to stop the growth of this out-of-control federal government by supporting initiatives such as creating a line-item veto, having a balanced-budget amendment and bringing measures to end the earmark process. Not only does Sen. Hurt have the experience and qualifications to win the election in November, but as a Pittsylvania County native, he will also better represent the people of our district.
