As a taxpaying citizen of the 5th District and a student of economics, it is clear that the current fiscal and economic policies of Washington, D.C, are unsustainable. Unbridled government spending, in the form of a fundamentally flawed health care bill and other unfunded liabilities, has caused the national debt to exponentially increase to nearly $13 trillion.

On June 8, we have the opportunity to select a true fiscal conservative to oppose subversive spending in Washington: State Sen. Robert Hurt. In the General Assembly, Sen. Hurt has consistently voted for a balanced budget, lower taxes and greater economic freedom for the citizens of Virginia. In Congress, Hurt will advocate for reform to the earmarks process, a line-item veto and a balanced national budget. With his proven record and economically sound ideas, Robert Hurt will curb the wanton spending in Congress. Please join me and vote for Robert Hurt on June 8 in order to control wasteful spending in Washington, D.C.
