Hurt is a strong conservative

To the Editor:

The 5th District needs a representative in Congress who will abide by the sworn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, who will fight to gain control of runaway spending, who will support family values, and who will actually listen to constituents. I believe State Sen. Robert Hurt is the person who can best represent our district.

We are fortunate to have seven good conservative candidates seeking the Republican nomination to defeat "tax and spend" big government liberal Tom Perriello. Any of the seven would be a substantial improvement over Perriello. Nancy Pelosi is able to wield immense power over Congress because of representatives like Perriello. We can do our part to claim back our country by defeating him.

Robert Hurt has a proven legislative record of fiscal conservatism, support for family values and life, defending Second Amendment rights, and promoting private enterprise. He has received a 95 percent rating from the Family foundation of Virginia, 100 percent voting record with the Virginia Society for Human Life, a 100 percent rating from the National Federation of Independent Businesses, and an NRA "A".

I urge voters to join me in voting for Senator Robert Hurt in the Republican primary on June 8.
