To the editor:
It is official! The Congressional Budget Office says we will have a
$1 trillion deficit for the next 10 years. Economists say that when a
country has a debt of 60 percent of GDP, it’s in trouble. The CBO has
further amended its prediction that the U.S.’s debt will reach the
critical 60 percent of GDP in 2023. It now says it will reach the 60
percent level in 2010.
Are you listening, folks? When Barack Obama took office, the deficit
was $454 billion. Thanks to his bills, the deficit is $1.3 trillion for
2009. You cannot blame George W. Bush for this. Obama voted for the
spending when he was in the Senate and then signed the bills into law as
president.
One has to wonder if he is trying to wreck the U.S. economy in order
to install his socialist agenda. It really isn’t hard to do. All it
takes are leaders like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and followers like
Tom Perriello who vote right down the party line with no regard for the
wishes and well being of the Fifth District. Unlike Bank of America or
General Motors, we are not too big to fail, and there is no one to bail
us out but ourselves.
On June 8, please go to the polls, vote for Robert Hurt, a true
conservative, and help him defeat Tom Perriello in November. America and
the Fifth District are counting on you to help stop the madness in
Washington.
I thank you, Robert Hurt thanks you, your children thank you and your
grandchildren will thank you.
