On the Campaign Trail

Monday, May 17, 2010

Team,

In 22 days, Republicans across the Fifth District will decide which candidate will take on Tom Perriello in November. I am grateful to the hundreds of volunteers that have been helping our campaign with making thousands of phone calls, putting up signs, working events, and knocking on doors. I've run five campaigns and I can tell you first hand that the last few weeks are filled with hard work, but with your continued hard work we will win this primary election on June 8, and we will be fully prepared to hit the ground running and defeat Tom Perriello and Nancy Pelosi in November.

This past week we took our campaign to Franklin County, Halifax County, Prince Edward County, Charlottesville, Nelson County, and Danville. On Tuesday afternoon, I was honored to attend the Military Officers of America Luncheon at Smith Mountain Lake. Our veterans have served our country honorably and they deserve to be treated as heroes. I was proud to address these heroes and report to them about the recognition I recently received from The PEW Center for my work in the Virginia General Assembly this past session to ease the absentee voting process for our soldiers and allow for more of our soldiers' votes to be counted (click here if you missed it).

On Saturday we began the day at South Hill with the South Hill Ruritans and then headed to the Chase City for a candidate forum. After the forum we ended the day in Clarksville at a jazz festival at the Occoneechee State Park where I had the honor of meeting legendary musician Boo Hanks from Virginia over in Halifax County.

As we head into this next week, we must remember that this is the most important election of our lifetime. If we don't stop the out-of-control spending that is taking place in Washington right now, we may never be able to get our country back on track. I'm in this fight because I strongly believe that the future of our children and the future of our Republic are at stake.

That is why we need your help now more than ever to be sure that the strongest candidate wins this primary election on June 8. If you have not already signed up, please contact us right away to see how you can help (click here).

Thank you for all of your support.
