To the editor:

Private ownership of guns has been a cherished right since the first settlers arrived in America. The early settlers survived because they could hunt game with guns. Gun ownership has gone hand-in-hand with self-defense and protection of private property rights. Yet, there are well-organized and wellfinance individuals and organizations actively working to take away our rights to own guns.

State Sen. Robert Hurt has a lifetime “A” rating from the National Rifle Association.

He has earned that rating by steadfastly defending and protecting our Second Amendment rights as a legislator. We can be absolutely sure that he will not bow to pressure from the gun control crowd and a big government liberal Speaker of the House from San Francisco!

If we want to be confident that our Fifth District congressman will defend our Second Amendment rights, then Hurt is our candidate. He has earned our support by consistently voting in the General Assembly to protect those rights.
