Hurt Supported For Congress

Editor, The Herald:
Under the leadership of Democrats, Congress is quickly approximating a three-ring circus. The backroom deals, two thousand plus page bills that few actually read, the tricks to manipulate the Congressional Budget Office scoring of legislation costs, and the use of questionable legislative maneuvers to avoid up-or-down votes would be appalling to our Founding Fathers. It is time to put an end to this irresponsible conduct.
Senator Robert Hurt has demonstrated his skills as an effective conservative legislator in both the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate. He is a strong advocate of the “single object” rule in Virginia that forbids the attachment of bad legislation that has no chance of passage to necessary legislation that is certain to pass. Hurt has worked across party lines on numerous occasions to create legislation that benefits the people of Virginia rather than narrow special interests. He has the legislative experience to help restore sanity to the way Congress operates.
Tom Perriello is part of the problem in Congress. Congressman Perriello even admitted that “If you don’t tie our hands, we will keep stealing,” and Perriello continues to vote for such legislation that is stealing from the American people. By sending Robert Hurt to Congress in November, the people of the Fifth Congressional District can join other Americans in re-establishing government that truly is “by, for and of” the people in the United States.
