Over 125 volunteers from all 22 localities across 5th District helped Hurt amass over 3,000 signatures to get his name on the ballot and be the first candidate to appear on the ballot for GOP primary on June 8th

Chatham, VA – 12pm on Tuesday, March 23rd marked the beginning of the filing period to submit candidate petitions to appear on the ballot for the Republican Primary on June 8th. Hurt’s campaign handed in well over 3,000 signatures from every locality across the Fifth district and he will be the first candidate on the ballot. Over 125 people from across the district helped Hurt achieve this goal.

State Senator Robert Hurt, conservative Republican congressional candidate in Virginia’s 5th District, released the following statement:

“I’m humbled and honored by the level of grassroots support our campaign has received from citizens across the entire Fifth district. This was not an easy task, but because of the hard work of over 125 volunteers for our campaign, we reached over 3,000 signatures from every locality across the Fifth district. I’m also proud of the fact that we were able to identify volunteers in every locality in the Fifth District to help us achieve this goal.

Make no mistake; Tom Perriello will have millions of dollars from special interest groups and hundreds of volunteers from liberal activist groups coming in to the Fifth district to help him win. We need a candidate who has strong grassroots support from across the entire district and this is yet another example that we are building the best team to take on Perriello in November and give us a voice in Washington again.”
